Just Hold On

I wrote this song a while ago and Yakyn was helping me put music to it, but it was never finished. Maybe someday I can get around to finishing it. Anyway, I thought I would share the lyrics with you.

Just Hold On

You’ve lived a life of shame and dread
Only to find you’re bruised and broken
Your past just keeps replaying in your head
Your loved ones warned you not to go
Walking the path, the path that you chose
Now you can’t see a hope through all your tears

Chorus:
When your soul is aching
And your heart is breaking
And your world is quaking
Just hold on
When your feet are stumbling
And you’ve started wondering
If the hands that held you
Are going to stay strong
Just hold on

Your world of dreams is crashing down
Finding yourself was all that mattered
Your future seemed brighter all around
Your loved ones begged you not to go
Treading the path, the path that you chose
It’s the one you’ve journeyed all these years

Chorus:
When your soul is aching
And your heart is breaking
And your world is quaking
Just hold on
When your feet are stumbling
And you’ve started wondering
If the hands that held you
Are going stay strong
Just hold on

So when your heart is straining
And your breath is fleeting
You cry out…
I’ve surrendered in my shame
There is no one left to blame
I try to run and hide my pain
Yet every time I turn around
It is always there again

Chorus:
When your soul is aching
And your heart is breaking
And your world is quaking
Just hold on
When your feet are stumbling
And you’ve started wondering
If the hands that held you
Are going to stay strong
Just hold on

In God’s loving arms you have found
You never knew your heart could change
Nor all of your sins that He forgave
Your loved ones welcomed you back home
Abandoning the path, the path that you chose
It’s the one you’ve traveled full of tears

Now that He has opened your eyes
You see…
That He has healed your aching soul
And He has made your broken heart whole
And He has stilled your world
He has stilled your world
Just Hold on

Cause He is holding on to you
He is holding on to you
Just hold on

Rotten Veggies

I wrote this poem because I was bored.

Wishing for Rain

The air is warm
The sun is hot
Billions of flies swarm
And vegetables rot.

Here come the clouds,
All wispy and white,
In puffy shrouds
And summer sunlight.

There is no rain
No not a dot.
I wish for rain
Yet see not a spot.

Things You Just Can't Do to Love

I do not pretend to be any good at writing poems, they are sort of experiments. Anyway here is another poem I wrote for and English assignment.

Things You Just Can’t Do to Love

Love is limitless,
Therefore you can’t bottle it up, tie it up,
Round it up, nor rake it up!
Love must be pure,
So you can’t fake, mix, match,
Or make it up!
Love is not silent,
Therefore you can’t hush it up, gag it up,
Quiet, choke, or shut it up!
Love is beauty,
So you can’t feign, mimic, pretend,
Or mock it up!
These are the things you just can’t do to love!

*Note: I chose this image because sometimes the ocean seems limitless like love.

What is poetry?

Here is a poem I wrote about poetry.

What is Poetry?

Poetry is an expression of your feelings.
 It’s where you suppress them,
And compress them,
Access and express them.

True poetry resides in your heart.
Your heart is where you contain them,
And obtain them,
Retain and explain them.

You are the author of you poetry,
You control and uphold it,
You are brave and bold with it,
As you imagine and mold it.

Poetry is an expression of your feelings.

I Know Not What...

In order to know what this poem is about you will have to use your imagination. I had to write a poem describing something without really saying what it is.

I KNOW NOT WHAT

I saw it once, after the rain,
It bubbled and simmered,
And murmured my name.
I knew not where is was going,
Nor from where it came.
So I followed it,
 Without fear or shame.
Not knowing if I’d see it again.

Of it essence, I did wonder,
For it danced and it sang,
And it lullabied my name.
Rushing and flowing
 It rounded a bend,
And into a chasm it did descend.

Over the edge, I watched it go,
For it boomed and it rang,
And it bellowed my name.
Plunging and diving
Into the torrent below.
Leaving me to wonder, never to know.

The Value of Love

This is a poem I wrote for an English Assignment. I hope you enjoy it.

The Value of Love

It is soft to the touch,
Yet hard to hold.
Love is worth more
Than silver or gold.

It is a power,
Could it be told?
A way to be humble
A way to be bold.

On it is no rust,
 Grime or mold.
There is no price,
For it can’t be sold.

This treasure of Kings
,Ancient and old.
For it we sell our souls,
For its warmth in the cold.

God is REALLY Listening...

Last night I decided to take a walk up to the pond to look at the stars. I was not necessarily looking to spend time alone with God. I just thought that is would be nice to see the stars without all the lights and people around. Little did I know that I was going to have a really awesome experience. So I wrote a poem about it.

Shooting Stars from Heaven

Gazing into the blue abyss,
Where stars twinkled and danced,
I prayed a prayer and made a wish.
I hoped beyond hope
And said aloud,
“God if your there,
Will you send me a shooting star?”

I know He heard me,
Cause He sent me that star,
For it streaked across my vision
And in that moment He seemed so near.

All my hopes, dreams, and fears
I poured out to my unseen maker,
I knew He loved and cared about me.
Yet, I believed beyond just believing
And I prayed,
“I have seen You perform wonders for others,
But can you give me a miracle of my own?
Will You send me a shooting star?”

And then without hesitation or thought,
He sent me my shooting star.
For by chance I spied it,
As it shot across the sky.
And my heart leaped for joy inside
And I knew He was really listening to my prayers.

So if you are looking for a miracle
You have only to ask and believe
And He will meet you there.
